Our ISO Audit, another year gone by!

It hardly seems a year since our last audit but we’re delighted to announce that for the 11th year running we have been re-accredited to conform to the ISO9001 quality standard and for the 3rd year  re-accredited to the ISO14001 environmental standard.

Quality is important to us and I think it’s what sets us apart.  Part of the commitment to providing a reliable quality service is our continued support of the decision, eleven years ago, to gain certification for all of our in-house procedures. Continue reading

We're keeping honeybees!

Fueled by the news recently that the bee population is in decline (10 – 15% in the last two years) some us here at SOLO have been studying beekeeping for the last 12 months and we’re now pleased to announce that from Spring 2011 we will be keeping a “SOLO” hive.  We will also be planting some bee friendly plants outside the office here in Tilehurst. It’s been a year since we were at Churchend Primary School to plant trees, back with renewed vigor the SOLO clan and the good people at Thames Water, our partners in crime, turned up to help the staff and children in the school’s gardening club to weave the young willows into dome shapes for the children to play in.  A hefty amount of pruning was required.  Bob Brigham, the school’s very capable caretaker and Mr master gardener has spent a great deal of time working on the school’s natural areas to create an award winning wild garden with trees donated by SOLO and Thames Water last year.  Bob is also the man responsible for the schools vegetable plot.
